NextGen is the name for our ministry to students from elementary to high school. We do many things to reach and disciple children and teenagers, but usually, this refers to our service at The Oaks every other Wednesday night (opposite HomeGroups). We begin at 6 PM with pizza and finish around 7:45 PM. After getting dinner our younger kids separate from our youth.
KidsMin is the name of our ministry for children from preschool through elementary. They meet downstairs. The check-in at the table in the foyer and will have small group teaching for their age in a classroom as well as music and activities as a large group in the auditorium. They use the New City Catechism for Kids curriculum, which teaches them basic doctrine through memorization of key Scriptures and concise questions and answers. This is a great resource for parents to use in the spiritual formation of their children.
Youth in junior high and high school meet upstairs where they have their own games, relationship building, prayer, and teaching. Similar to HomeGroups they discuss the text from the prior Sunday’s sermon and apply it to their lives as teenagers. They also plan events such as retreats and camp, as well as relationship building and outreach activities.
During quarantine, our youth hang out via zoom.
